Why I'm leaving Deviant Art I had this thought the other day that the proliferation of Ai art feels like fascism. And at the time of thinking that I couldn’t even define fascism, yet I couldn’t shake the notion. I know fascists and fascism exist but I didn’t know the definition of fascism at the moment. I know what it means now because I looked it up on Merriam-Webster free online dictionary and it is and it also isn’t fascist to use Ai tools. Fascism puts the importance of a nation over that of the individual person. Nationalism isn’t in and of itself the villain of fascism but when it is used by a contingent of people in power and as an excuse to dehumanize the individual that’s when it sucks and that’s why it gets its own name for how much it sucks. I cherish my journey as an artist. It has been a weird, life long path. I didn’t get a college education. I simply followed my own two feet and as you can imagine I’m not successful in the traditional sense. For me creating art

You may (or may not have) noticed that I touched up the SPG lyric booklet pieces I recently uploaded. Initially most of the art was accompanied by the lyrics or other stuff, so to make them stand on their own, I spruced'em up! Can you spot the differ...

Even though I am no longer a part of Steam Powered Giraffe I plan on uploading my various album art contributions to my deviant art soon. Thanks to those who enjoy my art. I don't say it often but know that I do appreciate you.

Just now found your DA and just wanted to say that Hatchworth is my favorite robot out of them all and I love you work!
appreciate it, thanks
Heya Sam,
I recently noticed that it's been a year (tempus fugit) since Hatch-dawg took his goldfishing trip - and I decided to pop by and see what you were up to.  I'm blown away!
I must say, I'm getting the impression that you were keeping things a bit tame, in keeping with SPG's "family friendly" image, and that freedom from the band has allowed you to bust out with a bunch of that held-back creativity.  Your recent work (both visual and musical) seems more raw, more edgy and, in all honesty, more passionate.  I hope you're able to keep that fire stoked!
I discovered your work via your collaboration with the Bennetts, of course - but I must confess that the merging of Samhears and SPG always seemed a little "square peg, round hole" to me.  I'm one of those weirdoes who still listens to albums front-to-back - and, while I loved individual songs such as Space Giant and Only Human, they never quite fit the overall package; and better-meshing songs like Leopold Expiditus and Go Spine Go seemed more the exception than the rule.  Now, though, as I listen to your new Movie Monsters album on Bandcamp, I'm hearing many similar sounds and concepts to those previous numbers - but weaving together in a melodic, cohesive whole.  It's a powerful album - and, frankly, something I don't think would have been possible under the SPG bailiwick.
In short, your new art and new album have rekindled my fandom and, I daresay, raised it to a level above my enjoyment of your SPG contributions.  Keep on producing!  I wish you loads of success.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!! :3 came for the SPG stayed for the artist. 83 Keep up the great art Sam!!!!
Happy birthday Sam!
